WHAT TO DO? PERU
There are so many environmental issues on our planet in these times. I hear many talking about them, educating themselves and others on the issues at hand. They are posting on Facebook global happenings and having heated discussions in public places. It can be overwhelming. Quite often I hear the remark from those who are choosing to stay neutral, “What can I do?”

I also see a growth in North America of South American ceremonies. It is my belief that these medicines have come out of the jungle.. planting seeds of love.. inoculating  change.. for when we heal ourselves we heal the world.

The Amazon is disappearing at an alarming rate. No Amazon; No Medicine. In exchange for this opportunity to heal ourselves.. and humanity.. could we make an exchange to save the planet/jungle!
This is why I have coordinated this offering What Can I do? Peru

    • Las Piedras Amazon Center (LPAC)
    • OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES AT LPAC Activities include (dependent on weather, time and guest’s desires/ability): - Day and night walks across the 11,000-acre primary rainforest reserve which boasts thousands of species of plant and animal, from blue morpho butterflies to jaguars and anacondas, to endangered spider monkeys and towering Brazil nut trees tangled within medicinal vines. - Boat trips up and down the Las Piedras River offering a chance to see riverine wildlife and spectacular sunrises/sunsets. - Talks and activities with our resident wildlife researchers. - Visiting the Las Piedras macaw clay-lick, a wildlife spectacle. - An easy climb to the rainforest lookout where we can see over the canopy and enjoy the change of hues and sounds as day turns to night. - Visiting the local cacao farming community to see first-hand the creation of chocolate, from tree to bean to bar. - Caiman research count, a night time activity on the riverboat with our herpetofauna team. - Canoeing along the Las Piedras River or Loboyoc Stream - Relaxing and enjoying time around the camp in our hammocks (with or without a cold, locally-brewed artisanal beer) Activities (additional cost) can include (season/expert availability-dependent): - Tree climbing using a rope system of ascenders and descenders to access the 25-35-meter-high canopy of the rainforest ($50 per person). - Day boat trip to visit a remote oxbow lake where a family of giant river otters lives ($200 per group). - Day out with the Anaconda research team (using telemetry radio tracking device to attempt to find Friana the 4.5m Anaconda), requires fairly good stamina ($30 per person). - Day out with the native Las Piedras Guardabosques (Forest Rangers) to patrol the rainforest and learn about the rainforest through a local’s eyes as well as conservation challenges in the region ($30 per person).
WHAT’S INCLUDED / NOT INCLUDED Rainforest Conservation Tour guests stay at LPAC’s Amazon Explorer Platforms (includes bedding, towels and biodegradable soap).  Guests are treated to three delicious, nutritious and sustainable meals each day, with refreshments (water, juice, tea, coffee and snacks) available at all times, a guide to lead guests through the rainforest and on scheduled activities, rubber boots in the wet season, and airport transfers (includes transport between LPAC and Puerto Maldonado). Tours do NOT include flights, travel insurance, clothes and gadgets for the rainforest (please see our suggested packing list attached).
MORE INFORMATION LPAC’s Rainforest Conservation Tour is for travellers who seek a safe, educational and deeply immersive experience in a spectacular and remote region of the Peruvian Amazon rainforest.  Guests at LPAC stay in our comfortable, sustainably-designed Amazon Explorer Platforms which are surrounded by lush virgin rainforest.  The accommodation is set within the LPAC Conservation Camp where researchers go about their daily routine monitoring the local wildlife.  Tours are led by our passionate team of ecologists, biologists and indigenous Amazonian guides.
Why is this this a “Conservation Tour”? Because LPAC is owned and managed entirely by the Peruvian non-profit organization ARCAmazon.  100% of proceeds from LPAC Tours go toward the conservation of the Las Piedras watershed, its wildlife and its indigenous peoples.  Throughout your tour, you will be exposed to the very people your payment is supporting—passionate individuals who work tirelessly to study and protect this very special place.
IMPORTANT: AIRPORT TRANSFERS AND TRANSPORT TIMES Please note that due to the remote location of LPAC (at least 3 hours by car and riverboat from Puerto Maldonado), guests are advised to arrive in Puerto Maldonado before 2pm on the first day of their tour AND depart from Puerto Maldonado after midday on the last day of their tour.  In rare cases (extreme weather, very late arrivals/early departures) it may be necessary for us to host guests for a night at our partner hotel in Puerto Maldonado.
IMPORTANT: REGISTRATION PROCESS For safety and logistics purposes, as well as to follow the government’s policy for all visitors to Peruvian private protected areas, guests are required to complete a Registration Form.
